  • i am sorry but this is FAR from proper. u loosen the bolts and pry open the cover. u NEVER strike the cover. it is NOT heavy duty. the cover is there ONLY to hold in the differencial fluid.

  • would of been smart to take the bolt some of the way out then hit it

  • ok lets see now.. dose anyone really know a ''safe'' way to do this because you can say all you want about this video.. but at the end of the day it's here for use to learn from it..

  • @Geraldtoo when i say pry i refer to a flat head screwdriver to separate the gasket. not referring to using lots of force but enough to get a steady stream of oil

  • @adv512 If its NOT heavy duty wouldnt prying warp it?

  • And then before re installing the diff cover drill a drain hole half way up that thing

  • @PROJ3CTBM i personaly would drain it from the drain port. if it doesnt have one then undo the 3 bottom bolts and pry the old gasket loose until it drains about a quart a minute. then remove the gasket and im not bashing on RTV but i prefer gaskets designed for the diff

  • @adv512 he was using a rubber, RUBBER, mallet, it wouldn't damage the cover even if it was aluminum unless he was savagely and heavily beating the cover

  • i would not call this man names, he seems good to me, but obviously , he hates his job ! .

  • As always worthless video

  • @jeepscometrue It was a Ford Explorer

  • how many miles do u have to usually do this?
