@InSingularity i dont have anything against "troubled" kids identifying with each other. they can identify with alot of people. not just people who DRESS like them. im talking about an unnessessary dress, and emotional norm that exists within these cliches.

@amazingdrummerboy And in a sense, it's a way of sticking together - we all identify with each other and we create a group of people fighting for our rights to be ourselves. I know I'm making it out to be a massive deal like the Civil Rights Movement, but I know it's not like that at all and in retrospect it's a petty issue. But the point is it helps for the troubled kids to find each other, I guess.

@amazingdrummerboy dude...maybe we're not TRYING to be emo/goth. We're not TRYING to dress or look like anyone else. But we like the style and it suits our personality. It's who we are. Yes it corresponds to the dark/goth/emo subculture sometimes, but we're not trying to be anyone but ourselves. And if we look like other people, well, so be it. We chose this. And as such it is not conformity.
