wat is the english name of this fish ... if it is not avalable .. could u pls suggest some other fish as substitue for it ...

I could not find any English name of the fish. It is a fresh water fish in east Indian region and Bangladesh and you can try a Bangladeshi/Asian store in your area, if there is one. But you can try the recipe with any local fish you have access to. It should be all right.

Great question! Cut potatoes into pieces and fry them (before or after frying the fish). If frying after the fish, you can use the same oil used in frying the fish (or add some more if needed). After frying, keep it separate. Then after the fish is added into the cooked spice sauce, add the fried potatoes in there. Then cover the pan for cooking some more. Be gentle later when turning over the fish, as the soft potatoes can break easily. Hope that helps and please keep us posted.
