Papi's Game Winning Homerun

David Ortiz, Big Papi, hit a homerun on June 11 to bring the Boston Red Sox back from defeat and win the game. The Red Sox were down by 2, there were 2 on bases, Papi was against 2 strikes with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th. What a classic! Sorry the audio and video are low quality but it still captures the excitment! June 12, 2006.

Well, since it was so easy to get my professional video camera into the park and knew this was going to happen, I figured I would settle for the video feature on my digital camera. Oh, and Super 8 is a motel too.

Actually that day I filmed every at-bat for Papi and Manny... I figured I would get something, had no idea it would be this!

I remember this game. My car was parked next to my mom's grave as I was watering her flowers. I had my car radio on listening to the Sox. And I said a little prayer as Papi came to bat asking my mom to intervene and ask God to let Papi hit a homerun (I know this sound crazy). And I NEVER pray to God for something as inconsequential as a sporting event...but in this case I did. The next thing I hear is Castiglione (sp?) screaming "it's a long drive....homerun! The Red Sox win!!!"

@jackty906 i agree even though im a yankees fan, but i know that the whole team has to play and win as a team. if that wasnt the case then that means manny and papi could just play by theirself and we know that the rest of the team effort has to come in to play. like i said to another redsox fan, the team has to play together adn roids dont guarentee a homerun every at bat, they still have to see the ball and hit the ball.

@DaViDcOokRoX115 yes sir i agree with you there. im a yankees fan and i HATE when people say the yankees cheat every year and buy their championships with roid players and bs like that. its like get over yourself, my team was the best for that year, end of story. ITS ABOUT THE TEAM winning so that makes the TEAM go out and play. i didnt like seeing the redsox win the ws twice, BUT i knew they deserved it cuz they got momentum when they needed it and got the job done.

Thank you for making that point. I'm a diehard red sox fan, and everyone says that we should be stripped of our 04 and 07 world series titles. It annoys me because yes, some players did take steroids (and I wont deny that), but it's not as if players on other teams didn't. We just had other talented players and we won games.

To all people who think the Red Sox Championships are tainted because of manny and ortiz: Their World Series very well may be tainted(and yes I'm a sox fan)

but The Steroid era has been around since the mid 90's, if you take away their championships, you might as well take away everyone elses in that period, because it is safe to say about 60-70% of mlb players have at least experimented with steroids since the mid 90's. And their is still about 100 players yet to be named.
