17 Aug 1992 (Part 1) - Ross stops by the police station to break some bad news to Harley and Mallet (about the case against Jenna). Before he can tell them, Ross takes a call from his secretary about some gossip reporters looking for Holly. Elsewhere, Holly and Gilly bring work back to Holly's place, only to be harassed by the gossip reporters asking about her relationship with Ross. Blake [now played by Elizabeth Keifer] watches from a hiding place as Holly and Gilly try to get them to leave. Blake listens as Ross arrives and switches to D.A. mode to kick the disgruntled reporters off private property. Holly is not grateful for Ross' help and tells him that Blake does not live there anymore. Blake follows as Ross walks away.

Ross arrives home with take-out but cannot find his dinner. He is surprised to find Blake at his door (with his forgotten dinner). Blake explains where she went and why she stayed hidden. Ross tells Blake that Holly told Ed about them, which does not surprise Blake. She asks Ross if he's managed to work things out with Holly yet, which confuses him. Blake wants to know how Ross feels about Holly, since Holly is a more acceptable choice for the life Ross has mapped out for himself. Ross thinks everything changed with the blackout, but Blake points out how he still chose Holly for public appearances. Ross gets upset at Blake pushing him back to Holly and finally breaks through Blake's defenses.

Ross Marler - Jerry verDorn
Harley Cooper - Beth Ehlers
A.C. Mallet - Mark Derwin

  • and introducing Liz Keifer! She must have been so nervous! Very tricky following someone as possible as Sherry was in the role....but she does a great job. Kudos, Liz!

  • Not only that, but her second day included a love scene. That's a way to jump into a character.

Liz has said that she was intimidated by Maureen Garrett at first, but she got over it. I guess it didn't help that Holly was so upset with Blake at the time.

  • I vividly remember the first shot of Liz Keifer as Blake stands in the shadows, after all these years. Based on looks alone I immediately wished she were Sherry Stringfield, but she certainly made the role her own.

  • Not to bash Liz Keifer as an actress but since I've started watching these I enjoyed Sherry Stringfield so much more as blake. Liz just doesn't have the right look. She doesn't have the right mix of youth, sex and danger that Sherry exuded for the character. It's a shame Sherry left cause I was liking these scenes so much up till now.

  • pretty much the only time when recasting in part based on looks actually payed off. LK was a great recast and made the part her own. It's been a long time since a character was casted well never mind recasted well on a soap

  • Normally I hate soap recasts, but hiring Liz Keifer is quite possibly one of the best decisions GL ever made. I loved her chemistry with Jerry and just about every other person on the show. She has and always be one of my favorite soap actors.

  • @steffiphill You call your Grandfathr Paw Paw too. I just called mine Granddaddy but it's such a cute pet name.

  • I love when the announcer acknowledges that there's a new Actor/Actress playing the role. Hey did you ever see the People Picture with all Four Blakes in 1999 when the magazine was celebrating it's 25th Anniversary. They showed all four. Cheryl Lynn Brown, Elizabeth Keifer, Sherry Stringfield and Liz Keifer.

  • Elizabeth Keifer was fresh...and quite the blast in that premiere of hers.

  • As far as I know, she only shot Roger. I still think she should have gone hunting for gossipers.

10 points per yelp! 50 for brown pants!

  • Yeah, she seemed a little wooden in her first scene with Holly, but she eases into the role quickly, particularly with Ross.

Stef, too funny about Holly with a rifle! Did Holly ever get to shoot anyone? Everyone else on the show did. I think she shot Roger maybe once? lol

  • "I guess there's no such thing as freedom of the press anymore."

There is such a thing as Trespassing people! This is when Holly should be brandishing a riffle...that always worked for my paw-paw!
