The Broken Windows Theory is a sociological and criminological term used to describe the norm setting and signaling effects of urban disorder and vandalism on additional crime and anti-social behavior. The theory states that monitoring and maintaining urban environments in a well-ordered condition may stop further vandalism as well as an escalation into more serious crime.

The theory was introduced in a 1982 article by social scientists James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling. Since then it has been subject to great debate both within the social sciences and in the public debate. The theory has been used as a motivation for several reforms in criminal policy.

CBS Lords most impressive take on this subject analyzes and offers a tongue in cheek raillery of the theory, creating a fully environmental experience within the breezeway of our public gallery. Nothing less than high concept lowbrow with mixed in highbrow, The Broken Windows Theory offers a unique sensory experience. Incorporating the building's unique architecture and layout of the entire structure, guests are given a tour from the perception of order to the perception of chaos. This installation is currently on exhibit between the hours of 10am -- 6pm Tuesday through Saturday at SubSpace art (3855 Hughes Avenue - Los Angeles, CA 90232).

Over the past year, NMS Properties have offered the use of their public space to encourage and promote the arts. In doing so, SubSpace art has developed a community attraction and outlet for both emerging and well-established artists to share their works with everyone. In the course of actions, we have been able to increase traffic for our resident businesses, raise funds and awareness for local youth charities and to give back to our community through public displays of fine art and free concert events.

With the subsequent demolition and pending rebuild of this property, we bring you our final exhibit at this locale and encourage you to pause for thought as we consider our urbanization and development of Los Angeles and the nature of public art. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors, supporters, friends and fans as we transition to a new public space in November.

Connect with SubSpace art on Facebook. Please enjoy the show and we look forward to bringing you more great artists in 2012.
