I did not make this demo. This is an 8k Atari 2600 demo by Trilobit. Released at Altparty 2008. Click on the link below for more information:

Again, I did not make this demo. I uploaded it, with permission, as a test to see if this version using CamStudio 2.5 is any better than what was previously uploaded. It's not perfect, but CamStudio 2.5 did a pretty good job. Better than other programs like Fraps. Best part is that CamStudio 2.5 is free.

Video made using Stella (the Atari 2600 emulator), CamStudio 2.5, and AVS Video Editor.

Although they probably won't look as good as this, you can make your own Atari 2600 demos and games using batari Basic. Click the link at the top of the description to learn more.

  • Watching all these 2600 demos does make me wonder why there wasn't this level of creativity found in 2600 games back in the day.

  • @Akira625 They didn't have the time or the equipment back then. They had to make a program on a primitive setup and get it out the door as quickly as possible.

  • Impressive how far a system can go. If I understand correctly, this is a music demo done entirely on the Atari 2600, right? And it runs on it with no problem? Forgive my naivette, but I think this is incredible.

  • @Exevalon One of the guys who made it finally got to try it on a real Atari 2600 and it didn't look quite right. Works with an Atari 2600 emulator, though.

  • My mind is absolutely blown.

    I salute you.

  • @flygonbreloom Just to be clear, Trilobit made it, not me.

    The beat is so awesome.

  • lol he looks like dr phil

  • what my atari 2600 sees when its high

  • @Akira625 unless I'm mistaken, programming techniques have become slightly more sophisticated in the 30 years or so since the 2600 was released.

  • @Replayability he used an atari clone so of course it didnt work properly

  • Also want to know how it looked on an actual 2600.

  • Impressive demo for such a primitive hardware!

  • Oh my God, I'm so happy I finally found this again.
