MCTV - "A Day in the Life"

A promotional video of information about Midland Community Television, MCTVs channel change in 1999.

Tim: When I was employed at MCTV Midland, Michigan as a temporary worker, the station director, Ron Beacom gave me an assignment to make a simple promotional video to inform of MCTVs channel change. He wrote a rough draft script with basic information about the channel change, and I was going to follow this script, but I thought of an idea of making this relay-like-announcement with MCTV volunteer producers and staff so that it shows the family-like-atmosphere of this public access TV station.

For the beginning of this promo, I worked with several volunteers and MCTV staff to create the montage and film-like-sequence to show actual preparation of the studio set and production of the studio segment where Ron Beacom announces the channel change. Then I contacted other volunteers and have them announce snipits of the information on camera one by one and edited together to complete the sentences.

This is one of my favorite video programs that I have ever made because it shows some uniqueness and enjoyment of making video programs with community people.

The background music is the Beatles A Day in the Life. I just used a little instrumental portion of the song.
