Storm Best Spirit 4-3 (Guelph, ON) The Saginaw Spirit suffered a 4-3 loss to the Guelph Storm Friday night, the first loss suffered by the Spirit against the Storm in the last seven games between the two teams. Captain Tyler Murovich led the Spirit offense in the effort with a goal and an assist. The Spirit have 49 points and a record of 22-18-4-1. The two teams traded goals in the first period of play. Spirit center Tyler Murovich tallied a goal at 13:33 in the first, courtesy assists from winger Michael Kantor and winger Dylan Fitze. It was Fitzes first OHL career point in what was his debut with the Spirit. A Guelph power play lead to a 1-1 tied game exiting the first frame, scored by center Michael Latta from center Peter Holland and defenseman Sam Lofquist. The Spirit moved the score to 3-1 early in the second period, with the first coming from center Barry Sanderson at the 1:51 mark. Jordan Skellett assisted on the goal. Later in the period blueliner Ryan OConnor notched his eighth goal of the season to advance Saginaws lead by two goals. Spirit defenseman Jordan Hill and Murovich assisted on the goal, which came at 17:35 in the second. The Storm mounted a comeback in the third period, getting back into the contest with three unanswered goals. Holland tallied a power play goal at 1:04 in the third to move the score to 3-2, courtesy an assist from center Mathew Sisca. Storm winger Carter Sandlak scored :32 seconds later to even up the contest at three apiece, with a goal that was assisted by Sisca and winger Cody McNaughton. It was McNaughton who grabbed the lead for Guelph, scoring a goal at the 3:21 mark off of an assist from center Connor Tresham. The two teams battled through the remainder of the period, but the Spirit were unable to break the Storm lead by the final buzzer. Saginaw netminder Edward Pasquale (NHL Atlanta Thrashers) anchored the net for Saginaw, with Storm goalie Brandon Foote getting the win for Guelph.
