Fr. Bill Bichsel, from Disarm Now Plowshares, talks with Seattle Times reporter Mark Rahner. Bill Bix Bischel, S.J., of Tacoma, Washington; Susan Crane, of Baltimore MD; Lynne Greenwald, of Bremerton Washington; Steve Kelly, S.J., of Oakland , CA.; Anne Montgomery RSCJ, of New York, New York, were arrested on Naval Base Kitsap- Bangor at the largest nuclear weapon storage area in the US.
They entered the base in the early morning hours of November 2, 2009, All Souls Day, to call attention to the illegality and immorality of the existence of the first strike Trident weapons system. They entered through the perimeter fence, and walked through the base for four hours. During that time they made their way to the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific (SWFPAC) where they cut through the first chain link fence surrounding SWFPAC. They then walked to and cut the next double layered fence, both chain link and barbed wire, and entered the grounds of SWFPAC. This bunker area holds the largest nuclear weapon stockpile in the United States.
you can cross the blue line dumbass but if your car got in an accident past the blue line away from the base then the naval base cannot help you but if you car was past the line closer to the base then they can help you... you can pass the line.

The collar / clerical garb no longer implies status. It would be good to return to your external ecclesial signs for the sake of visibility in a time when all merge into anonymity. Yes, your actions "speak"---and God bless you for it---but external signs are important again, just as Jesus wore his hair and clothes a Hebrew men ---as a sign.People walking in the streets want to be reminded that there is more to life than consumerism. Archbishop Romero knew this.

The USA, the only country to detonate nuclear weapons on enemy soil, has led every step of the arms race. We have undermined efforts to halt proliferation by arming more nations than anybody else, including Pakistan and Israel. From the mines to decommissioning, these weapons cause great tragedy. God forbid they ever be detonated. The USA must lead the way to a sensible nuclear-free policy.

One thing we all need to understand is that while most of us do not like nuclear weapons whatsoever; without us having our own stockpile we'd all be speaking Russian or Chinese by now. I'm all for disarmament, but the other nuclear countries need to follow suit.
