The song was chosen by Serebro to satisfy the patriotic song requirement when they entered the competition to represent Russia to compete in the Eurovision Contest 2007 in Helsinki. Serebro won the competition and represented Russia. At the Eurovision Contest 2007, Serebro received the third place for Russia with the song "Song #1".

This is a well known Soviet song, it is emotionally sad and it has always brought people into tears.

In the WWII, Soviet had about more than 26.2 million people died, that was about 14% of the total Soviet population, or one out of every seven died during the war. Death was not happened to other families, death was happened to every family in Soviet.

As a comparison to the major countries in WWII; Nazi Germany was 10.5%, China 2.9%, Japan 3.8%, France 1.4%, Italy 1.0%, UK 0.9%, and USA 0.3%.

Other over 10% countries were: Poland 16.7%, Nauru 14.7%, Lithuania 13.7%, Latvia 11.4%, Greece 11.2%, and Portuguese Timor 11%.

NOTE: Out of the 26.2 million Soviet deaths, Russia has 14.0 million and all the other ex-Soviets have 12.3 million, notably Ukraine 6.8 million, Belarus 2.3 million.

Therefore, this is not just a Russian song, this is a Soviet song. All the Soviets have the blood and tears in it.

Up to August, 2007, the deaths in the most recent American War in Iraq is 1.2 million or 4.6% of the total Iraq population.

This song makes me want to cry. Russia has sent her bravest and strongest into battle so that we may all live. Many fell but they never gave up. Russia was dealt one of the biggest blows and didn't not kneel to her attacker. Russia has earned their right to be on this planet where most have not

@TheCCCP2 В этом есть смысл. Но кто сейчас сможет спеть о той войне именно так, как надо? Я считаю, что песню должен петь тот, кто ее написал. Но ведь это невозможно в данной ситуации.

И по сути - какая разница как они одеты? Это ведь предрассудки. Мир изменился, юбки стали короче, а декольте глубже. Тут все достаточно целомудренно. По крайней мере, приятно слушать :)

@r0PHbI4 Сорри, у нас разные критерии к исполнению подобных песен. Я всегда буду против прелестниц в таких контекстах, ибо это грань когда выхолащивается священное, наподобие того, как если бы церковные молитвы исполнялись в мини юбках где нибудь в полуборделях. Такие песни должны обращать чувства и мысли к атмосфере окопной правды, мукам и поту невозмутимых мужских лиц. Это кровь, а не эстетика гламурных дам.
