Sleeper train accommodations on Thailand's Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Bangkok to Nong Khai runs.
(Nong Khai then provides access to Vientiane, Laos.)

  • Hello Ribas. Yes, you can lock the door, but only while you're inside. If you leave for a spell you can take belongings with you if concerned. I've taken the overnight train several times in Thailand and LOVE it! Enjoy!!!!! Do keep in mind that routes are limited, so sometimes the bus is an option. There are very nice buses..."GreenLine" or something like that as I recall...nice reclining seats and has a bathroom. Flying about can also be fairly cheap, esp on the discount carriers.
