When I was just a baby, my father lost his job and had to find ways to feed all his children. It got to the point where he had to kill his pet chicken for food. It helped pass our hunger for at least a week because my mom stretched that chicken meat seven ways to Sunday; yet to this day, he has never, ever touched chicken meat after that fateful day. He was young then, he's 85 now. He rarely eats meat though he's not vegetarian. That decision based on compasion inadvertably helped his health.
