I hear some Woody Shaw, the chords are a little bit on the edge. Interesting but the original changes with standard subs are so beautiful. This approach to the tune is a bit bombastic but the guy does know what he's doing. You know that to put it out there requires courage and I admire that.

a truly great trumpeter tames the instrument...there is a place for trumpetists that have to blow the shit out of a beautiful song, why? because they can.....not because it is beautiful. An ear for music, timing, feeling(which many musicians don't have) contribute to the beautiful sound that is the trumpet.

That over blowing style is not my cup of tea ... BUT this guy has his own sound and his own style which is a fantastic achievement. More than that plenty of it is 'out' yet sounds cool and that keeps you listening. He is great!
