Yes, trumpet players are "supposed" to be taught "good technique" at a young age; however, when someone wants to get a job in the field of commercial playing, it's your sound that counts, and how exactly you produce your sound, as far as technique, doesn't really matter.
Someone could play trumpet with an embouchure that isn't centered at all, and, as long as they play with a beautiful tone accurately, they will get the job over someone else who plays with a "perfect embouchure", but doesn't
