@uinkii Ya...there was a guy turning the mochi and putting water on it too...but instead of every single time it was after a few pounds....you know...safety reasons. LoL.

I think that hammer is the hardest thing to use. You get SO tired in such a short time. In Japan, they have a guy putting water on the mochi between every pounding.

Oh alas! We're just back from Tokyo and probably could have found somewhere if we'd known about it. Ah well, if we're ever in japan at year end, again...

@dollish There are a few temples/shrines that do it at the end of year / beginning of the year. This one was for a club. They get together and do it for their club members and families.
