Very pretty bird, but it brings back bad memories of when my wife talked me into getting a macaw. What a mistake. She was a beautiful bird, but wow was it messy and loud. It was a mistake on our part to get such a larger bird for our first one, we had to sell it back because it was alot of work.

Yes, I have been working a lot recently and decided a feathered friend was in order. It's working out well, I could perch the new bird on my finger after the second day!

So, which is it?
You say I am not nice to people, I say I am, you say that is nerdy, implying I should not be nice to people. A conundrum that will keep me up for hours.

how can you tell the gender of a bird? I mean, sometimes its easy because the female is more drab, but how do you tell for a cockatoo?

With the budgies, the distinct colouring of the cere above the beak, blueish for males, brown/creamy for females.
I've read cockatiels sometimes don't have such a clear distinction, like Crazy Mike mentions, the behavior might be a better indicator. So far 'she' has been quite mellow.
