Some scenes from the SVR's 2011 Autumn Gala held over three days from 23rd - 25th. September 2011. Joining the home fleet of locos were 9F 92212, on loan for the summer from the Mid Hants Railway, GWR large prairie no.4160 from the West Somerset Railway, GWR King, no.6024 'King Edward I', new build A1 no.60163 'Tornado' and, for me, the star of the show Caledonian Railway McIntosh 812 class no.828 from the Strathspey Railway making what was believed to be her first visit south of the border in preservation.
Locations as follows;

828 leaving Bewdley Tunnel, Victoria Bridge, Arley and Eardington Bank
92212 - Oldbury, Arley (one passenger, one freight) and Bewdley Tunnel
4566 - Oldbury and Eardington Bank
6024 - Oldbury Viaduct, Arley and climbing to Bewdley Tunnel
60163 - Arley and Eardington Bank
2857 - Bewdley Tunnel
4160/7812 'Earlestoke Manor' - Victoria Bridge
46443 - Arley
The video was filmed over the Friday and Saturday of the gala. Apologies for one or two sound problems which I think may be due to interference from mobile phones, particularly
I Phones and thanks as ever to all the organisers and volunteers at the SVR for another fine gala

  • Thanks, a lovely engine 828, she became everyones favourite. Hope to see her again soon.

  • Great filming. I was there for the three days and the Caley took centre stage for me too.

  • It does seem a paricular problem at the SVR, don't know whether its down to a shortage of volunteers to tackle the weeds. It does spoil the overall look of the line though compared to many of the preserved lines
