  • Great post. Takes me back to being 9 years old. Do you have any of the Nationwide episode?

  • Yes, I have the full titles and intro with Frank Bough, then a link into the London & South East region stories.

  • Any chance you could post this? Many thanks!

  • I'm not keen on uploading any more titles/excerpts/credits of programmes from companies which still exist, as the risk of having my account suspended/deleted is too great.

  • being a kid again, thanks.

  • Very interesting excerpt of the BBC evening continuity. I used to always wonder what was put on in London when all the other regions on BBC1 were away. The TV ark website said that London viewers did not get proper local news before the mid 1980s. I am always on the lookout for clips of the London BBC1 broadcasts pre 1985. On TVark is an example of a trailer for the South East news as part of 'Sixty Minutes' in 1983

  • Having noticed today that Royal Ascot is again upon us, I had a hunch that it would be a Tuesday and in June. [REPLY POSTED TUESDAY 16th JUNE 2009! 28 YEARS TO THE DAY SINCE THE TRANSMISSION! NICE.]

  • OK - the date is Tuesday 16th June 1981.

  • The headlines (in this order) were: the Queen opens Royal Ascot as usual despite Saturday's bomb threat, around 1000 people from homes and businesses around Fleetwood Docks are evacuated after a bomb alert on the cargo ship Buffalo, and the SDP and the Liberals announce plans of an alliance. Hope this helps Robin.

  • Is there any chance of also uploading the news headlines, or at least telling me what they were? I know I could give a precise date that way.
