and to my previous comment... he on;y wants their pressure if its to stop the bleeding... I think that makes my case very strong.

Maybe this is too morbid of a take on the song but I kind of hear it as a suicide note. Listen at the beginging, there is running water... like the person is getting into a tub. There is the line, when I'm dead and buried I don't want you to remember me. It's kind of angry and introspective... He is pushing whoever he is singing about away. In the end he is flesh and blood. Anyone agree? This is my fav song on the album.

@FreeRsGuides I think it's a guy who wants people to take life as it is without inventing things to lessen it's value.

@Grelespraar: Also, he doesn't want anyone to expect anything from him; he doesn't want them to look to him for opinions, support, anything. Because he doesn't know what 's going on himself.

Hmm... I think that it's about a man who sees the world cynically. He questions the meaning of life, and he wants to know exactly WHY we need to do the things that we do. He wants to be left alone, to have some time to think about what's going on, but the blissfully unaware people keep pushing themselves onto him and he's getting sick of it. One half of him wants to be by himself, to deal with all of his worries... And the other half of him crave someone who can take all of his problems away.
If anyone would like to comment to the meaning of the song please do so!
Personally I think this song is about a man who simply wants to be left alone, he doesn't want anybody to bother him unless it's to help him (I only want your pressure if it's to stop the bleeding).

My favorite from Beyond the Horizon. The lead guitar only sings lead on two songs, this one and Last Man Stand Survivor. The two singers have such different vocal styles, but they harmonize great.
