  • Richard Dyer-Bennett recorded this. The CD is Richard Dyer Bennett I

  • how cruel that a man would do a noble thing thing like give his best girl his coat only to get pneumonia and waste away. How hard would it have been for her to bring him soup. I want to get a blunder gun and fight a duel with her mon, for leaving that poor love sick boy there fore to died.

  • Legend

  • @INBLOOM1993 I found this on CD a few years ago. It's a Musical Heritage Society collection of McCormack songs called "My Wild Irish Rose". I just checked and as of this writing it is still available. BTW, my maiden name is Branagan, and my dad used to try to sing it but could never remember all the words from the old Victrola record. When he was about 80 I surprised him with the CD! My mom and I conspired to put it on his player while he was out of the room. You should have seen his face!

  • Lovely voice; depressing lyrics. :D Thanks for posting!

  • John McCormack is simply the greatest singer of song on disc. He is also one of the very finest tenori di grazia. The beauty of tone, clear diction, breath control, and phrasing are all phenomenal. Thanks for sharing!
