@Hekikahni early on in his career, Chuck used to be predominantly a wrestler, but the organization he was fighting for at the time told him, if he didn't stand and trade, they were gonna cut him. He fell in love with striking, just as time passed on, his chin started to crumble, happens to the best of strikers.

@metalfrommaine i think because he won many times with submissions even against people who were better grapplers than him

@beaverpleaser420 No, I love martial artists. That term gets overused in MMA. People that come close are George St. Pierre., Anderson Silva. A martial artist doesn't lose their head, and go for the big knockout, and get knocked out themselves. They adapt to each new fighter. They can take on several styles. Three people have responded to this, so I will say, time has nothing to do with it. At some point every fighter will lose some fights, but a martial artist loses few.

@PWRcenter no he stands up with guys like shields who have no striking power at all n he takes everybody else down hes not always evolving he jus fights not to lose he doesnt fight to win like THE ICEMAN CHUCK LIDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLL -

why is bas rutten teaching ground technics he was a kickboxing champ not a ground fighter he may have ground skill but there are far better ground coches then him doesn't it say jon jones and frankie edger where there.eather one of them is far better on the ground then bas.

@Hekikahni chucks a natural born killer, he can go into a fight with a game plan, but if he thinks he sees an opening the game plan goes out the window and instinct takes over unfortunately his instincts were honed when he was a bit faster and stronger, so the openings he would have capitalised on back in the day get him in trouble now. it happens to every fighter if they stick around long enough, time is a mother fucker.

Who won what argument? Do people what the retards argue about on youtube?Arguing on youtube is so lame and reading them is lame to.

Chuck Liddell was a great fighter, but his camp ruined him. His trainer, Hackelmen, did not to listen to anybody. He was told to have Chuck hold his hands higher, kick more, takedown his opponent and strike a little bit, but his camp would not listen.

@faqyaself nah... he wouldn't
i completely agree with you

I may be incorrect, but if Chuck has all these people showing him ground techniques, why doesn't he ever use them? Why does he just try and knock people out, and get knocked out himself?

Fighters get used to fight a certain way and when others catch on to their game plan they are in trouble. This why GSP is so good because he keep reinvent himself.
