I remember rewinding this with a friend's VHS player over and over. There isn't a missile hitting the sheep, it just explodes! FAKE!

@thealphadale The budget was not good enough for good filming equipment. Jackson built his own camera and used cheap film. It looked as good as possible. Jackson wasn't an A-list director back them, but just an amateur

This is total bullshit. Watch "Good taste made bad taste" to see the real truth.
The film was made with Peter's and the crew's own money over four years. IMDB lists its budget at NZD 30,000 which is roughly USD 23,000 today.

If you think this is wild, check out Jackson's "braindead" aka "dead alive" ..... if you are into b-zombies and fake blood by the barrel. (i believe he supposedly ran through 300 liters for the final scene)
