This interview was part of an 10th grade project I did on the Great Depression. Video was recorded April 7th 1996.

This video is being provided to the public as a contribution to the scholastic community. However, I wasn't the only person to interview my Great Grandmother on this topic. A doctorate student also interviewed her and provided my family with transcripts of that interview. This being YouTube those transcripts won't be provided, I just thought it was an interesting FYI.

This movie was made by me on VHS tape when I did this project back in High School. The assignment was on the Great Depression and I decided to interview my Great Grandmother Afton Allen since she was alive during this event.

Location: South Salt Lake City, Utah
In this video my great grandmother talks about her Husband Orlando Allen, and their children. The struggles they faced, what they did to survive, and how even in the hardest times they still found room for charity. If I remember correctly My Great Grandmother and Grandfather married in their early teens and survived from there.

This project was later copied to DVD format and handed out as a Christmas present a few years after Grandma Afton's passing. My memory isn't perfect on the year she passed away, but I remember being 20 or 21 years old. This would have placed her death in 2000 or 2001. She was in her mid-80's when she passed. My Great Grandfather Orlando Leon Allen passed away two years later in 2003. I may change this information as family corrects my memory gaps.

Since this video transferred from VHS to DVD and then ripped from DVD, there were a few IFO and DAT files that came with the video. I'm not sure how these videos will play on YouTube as I'm loading from VTS files as their named without the IFO and DAT files.

Please don't copy or redistribute my work as your own.
Be kind, I was a child when I did this interview and as most teenagers not all my historical facts were accurate(I thought it was WWI that occured after the depression), and my speech reflects my age during this interview.
