I filmed myself tracing and coloring sketches for a small comic strip, using a wacom tablet, Ubuntu 8.04 and GIMP 2.6. I used layer masks to do the hair gradients. The speed is 12 times faster than realtime (it took me about 1 hour to do this).

The two music tracks are from Shadow of the Colossus.

  • How do you install the pen sensitivity on Ubuntu 10.10 x64?

I used these commands for my Bamboo:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:doctormo/wacom-plus

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install wacom-dkms

The Bamboo works, but I works like a mouse no sensitivity.

    Any help guys?

    Thanks

  • @123456iambelial you have to enable/set-up your tablet sensitivity (it behaves as multiple devices) directly in GIMP and Inkscape. In GIMP, it's in the "Input devices" section in the preferences dialog.

  • @kiddokiddokiddo I went to the Preferences > Input devices.

When I went to Configure Extended Input Devices, it says pressure, X tilt, Y Tilt, Wheel, but I couldn't change the there value from None to 1 or 2.

Also, what mode should I use Disable, Screen or Window?

  • @123456iambelial don't touch the X Y and whatever settings, actually; you just need to set the mode to "Screen" for the devices "stylus" and "eraser" (leave pad/cursor deactivated).

  • Thanks for the upload, i was looking for a vid that shows the tablet in action with tracing and all the other vids SUCK

  • @Testingpointer1 lol i just use the tablet that came with my laptop, or my finger (finger is harder O.o)
