Land value tax(LVT), an idea whose time has come. The idea is to increase taxes on land values and decrease or eliminate taxes on improvements. Taxing land values is just, fair and economically sound because land values are created by the community and are properly assessed to pay for community provided services. Untaxing buildings removes the penalty from building and improving, discourages urban sprawl and land speculation and encourages investment and jobs. Also LVT cannot be avoided.
