Washed up swashbuckler Alan Swann (wonderfully played by Peter O'Toole) can't face his daughter, Tess (a young Cady McLain), in the entertaining 1982 movie, "My Favorite Year."

Beautiful scene! My favorite in the movie. This scene plays like a silent movie.
Peter O'Toole's expressions - and Cady's look (so full of hope, and maybe even recognition) are masterful.

My God! I'm surprised that Mr.O'Toole didn't cry..when he did this scene. (Crying)God knows it gets to me every time!

I still get choked up by this scene and the end of the movie. A classic film.
