@SalWhizzle Sorry the reply was meant for SalWhizzle. As far as I am aware, the SL 1200 is still available. Failing that, comparable quality machines can be bought from manufacturers such as Pro-Ject and Rega. I have a Rega P5 and a Mira 3 (plus R3 Speakers) which you can hear if you visit my channel. It is belt drive (decent direct drives are very hard to come by at reasonable prices) but it is a corker!

Beautiful setup.

Improvements to be made for the price of burger and chips. Get a glass turntable mat and a clamp. Less muffle more attack. Most important and simplest - shut the lid. Rookie error.

@navanski
Good advice on the mat. I normally shut the lid for listening, but the visual video effect of the red vinyl looked much cooler w/o the lid in the way! :-)

Why use studio monitors on that setup?

The other options would have been stepping up to the Studio 60 floor-standing speakers (for about $400-500 more per pair), or I was very interested in completing the Rega kit w/ their RS3's but my dealer didn't stock Rega speakers. The distributor couldn't convince me to buy them un-auditioned, whereas the Studio 20's perform very well. Granted, the low-end is lacking, but that's the only downside of the system.

Hi i was wondering if you bought the sl online or an actual store...im looking for this everywhere and cant find a store that would carry it....thank you =)...Great song

@SalWhizzle
I bought it like 15 years ago at a Good Guys store in California. I don't think there would be many stores that carry decent turntables anymore. Best Buy has a bunch of low-end sets. Your best bet for anything turntable/hi-fi related would be needledoctor.
