This is the Manchester Boys Choir (1980s) version of Mary Stuart's prayer, to which I have added strings, French horn and a bit of kettle drum (towards the end!) Hope you like it, do let me know! Instruments added using my Yamaha PRS 1100 keyboard.

You can download a further tweaked and enhanced AUDIO file of this. Go to http://www.sendspace.com/file/81e0zg look for the download link near the animated arrow. Happy listening!

  • You can now download a top quality audio file of my orchestrally embellished version of this, with some further tweaks, adjustments and additions since I uploaded this. It's a sound file only. The link is in the video information at the top.

  • As you know, I love this so much! The extras that you have added to it have made it even more exciting and a treat to listen to! Well done notoyobs, I salute you!

  • @petelovesbevsills Glad you approve :-) I'd love to know what the choir's director makes of it, by all accounts he was a total perfectionist (as is obvious from the original recording.) Would love to know if he approved.... or hated it!!

  • notyobs> Under what circumstances did the Manchester Boys Choir sing this piece? Was it a recording for a CD, Songs of Praise, etc.?

  • @wizard9a9 I originally came across this on a vinyl LP of theirs which I bought on a visit to Thursford Steam Museum in Norfolk, in the late 80s or early 90s. A few years later I stumbled across it again on a CD I bought of Seaford College Choir. The last 4 or 5 tracks were not Seaford, but Manchester Boys Choir (who were far superior!) This is taken from that CD and on this version I've added strings, French horn and timpani.

  • This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever stumbled across in the internet.

  • This is amazing. Unfortunately, I am unable to discern portions of the lyrics. Would you please post the lyrics as they are sung here?

  • @notyobs He is more than likely still circling the heavens just as i did when I heard what you had done to this. I would be more than surprised if he didn't approve!

  • @notyobs Thanks for your quick reply. I always liked your original MBC video posted 3 years ago, and I was disappointed I couldn't find any of their CD's at all, let alone this specific track. It's a bit sad to see the choir rise to such heights, then fall into obscurity.

  • wonderful Manchester Boys Choir performance!
