I would have prefered you kept it more original . Modernising a 200 yr. old house is not an old house restoration . Sylites- Home Depot ??? Check out old home magazines like Early American Homes

I have fixed up houses and understand the expense and how much work it is. I'm impressed with the efforts so far and hope that Home Depot will decide to help - maybe starting first with safety features like cover plates for your outlets and light switches and ending up with the big prize. You're a natural at narrating this stuff! You should do your own show! And you have a lovely piece of architechture worth preserving!
My parents did just what you're doing. I grew up living in the midst of tearing down and rebuilding. My dad "finished" it the year I graduated from high school. I'll email you pix of "Poor Man's Castle". I wish you the best, and pray that Home Depot responds to your most worthy cause! JR
