i-ACT Jan 2008, Day 3 - Still hoping for action

Friends, Every day from my safe home I tune in and follow Gabriel and Katie-Jay's journey. I balance my newborn daughter on my knee as I follow their daily adventures. I remember that the first time I knew without doubt that I wanted a child was holding a baby who had only known a refugee camp as home. I am reminded of the children I met in the camps last year and their mothers whose only wish was to take care of their family and return to a safe home. I remember being absolutely positive that humanity was still beautiful and courageous and filled with hope as I held that baby and got to know her family. Following this i-Act and meeting people like Adam, Yakoub and Fatina I am powerfully reminded that we are all the same wherever we live with the same basic needs and human rights. It seems impossible that this could STILL be going on as I am reminded again to never forget or grow quiet in the face of the plight our brothers and sisters continue to face.Gabriel and Katie - Jay's dedication and call to more action, more voices rings loud and clear and I am called to do more. It is never enough until this genocide STOPS.

We are a community united by both our commitment to take a meaningful stand and the power we have to re ignite each other's dedication to fulfilling the promise, " Never Again." Our strength is each other.

Today's action: Get the media involved asking for Darfur coverage. Now that you have become familiar with the faces of Darfur and situation on the ground, you have the power to connect with your local media source. This can be a blog, an op-ed or a letter to a newspaper, a call to your radio station or your school paper. Send them our press release and follow-up with why you feel Darfur is important for your community to know about.

Here is a proud and good man trying to ake the best of his situation.Its tie the world did something about people in these dreadfull situations.I would be quite happy to give a percentage of my wage to end world poverty once and for all.If everyone did in the western world we could iradicate all this!Maybe the cost of a coffee?A closely monitored programe open to all to examine on ie.what has been bought and from whom -sent where -all details with regard to distribution.
