  • It may seem silly that people need to be taught empathy; however, clinicians should all have the training as outlined in this video. Many clinicians are not empathetic because they have never been taught how to be empathetic. This video represents an amazing approach to teaching empathy. As a college instructor, I work specifically on empathy with my billing and coding students so that they have some preparation for working with patients in an empathetic and therapeutic way.

  • Its silly that people have to be taught to have true empathy and genuine compassion, almost as silly as people who go to school to learn philosophy-wisdom (A bit contradictory?) considering most of these things cannot be taught only learned through experience. Clinicians should use their own natural and spontaneous intuition and should stop learning how to NOT be robots...maybe the veterans who have developed callus should take a recourse of this sort to bring them into check but not pre-meds:D
