Her first charted country single, Donna Meade reached #63 on the Billboard Country chart with "Be Serious" in 1988 (Mercury 888993). This single has a very nice sound, not country-sounding at all! It's great!
I used to go see her when she was the singer for the house band in the Bull Pen Lounge under the Stockyard Restaurant. I owned an independent record store for 21 years and Mercury didn't promote her album well. Every song on it is good. Heck, she had "From a Distance" before Bette Midler did (and it was better than Bette's version). It broke my heart when she married 'ol Jimmy Dean! lol
