Rare event of water filling Rivers and Lake Eyre in the Australian Outback . Queensland's summer floods have transformed parts of the outback landscape, enticing huge bird colonies to Lake Eyre in Outback South Australia, as well as the huge Pelican breeding area on Lake Machattie in South West Queensland (to the norht of Birdsville). When full, it is the largest pelican breeding area in Australia. 99m above sea level, this large, flat lake is usually dry.
