@stoobieman ...and thank you for the kind and beautiful words. Appreciate it. I placed the two mic's in front of the kit on each side, facing towards the kit. They were placed about 3-4 meters away from the kit. All mixed inside Logic Pro, and used Space Designer (most likely) for reverb. Not sure of which preset (I will have to look that up). Tuning is very much important as well. The toms are tuning fairly high, no damping, and the top and bottom heads to the same pitch (as a starting point).

@sturla75 That is a beautiful recording of some beautiful playing on a beautiful kit. Where did you place the mics? Which reverb did you use? What's your tuning method? I can't get my Starclassic maple kit sounding quite like that!

thats a whole lotta toms.

That finsish is fucking awesome.

@sturla75 Nice man.
You've inspired me to get my own stuff up soon - i too use a Canon 550D, Starclassic and Logic, just getting my studio built presently. My Gong is an Artstar II. Can I ask you for your sizes and heads? I'm guessing 10x8, 12x9, 13x10, 16 and 18 floors. Who do you play with?

@stoobieman And this was my first attempt to record something like this. I think you will find it to be good fun and a nice learning situation as well. So you have a Gong as well? Cool. Now I hope to see some video from you on here, so dig out that camera. You are mostly correct about the sizes, except floor toms which are 14x14 and 16x16. I use Remo Clear Ambassadors top and bottom and tuned quite high. No damping so there is quite a lot of ring.

Nice kit man. But I don't believe that big drum is a superstar. Is it?

@42threspwan If you mean the Gong Drum, it is indeed an old 80's Tama Superstar, and I've refurbished in the yellow finish to match along the Starclassic kit colour.
