Hey guys, in between Skype lessons in my home studio I decided to improv a solo on my Heavy Hitter Stockpad. I was just killing time in between lessons and found a flow and decided to film some beats while the laptop was idle. Beats are your friend, embrace them.

  • Did I see you do a roll at 180 bpm there at 1:29? duuuuuude.

  • @drumking07 Why yes, you did. I would've done a longer one with some dynamics if it occurred to me in the moment. This stuff is so much fun. :)

  • I wish I was good at improvising haha. Nice beats Bill. Watch those pinkies ;)

  • @nickheck Thanks. :) And you know, we're generally taught that it's a rule to keep all four fingers on the stick at all times, but ultimately there will be exceptions. A lot of those beats are fast enough that there's no way the pinkie could possibly track with the stick. Other times the pinkies would just add too much pressure and bulk where maximum finesse is needed. I'm sticking to my pinkies` performance!

  • Master Bachman...

You are SUCH a monster...amazing to see equality between hands...I wanna be just like you when I grow up...

Thank you for all you do Bill...you are such a massive jewel for the drumming community...you have done SO much for us...

    Thank you.

  • Wow! Really great playing. You changed it up constantly. Amazing to think what a skilled musician can do just with two sticks and a pad.

  • DAH GAAAAHHHHH!!!!

  • @autumndovable Thanks for the compliment! I'd recommend getting a teacher, and my new book Stick Technique, an essential guide for the modern drummer. Most people practice "wrong" their whole lives and never get where they want to go, that's why people like me teach lessons!

  • bill please design a practice pad with a rim like offworld because i really don t want to switch from vic firth

  • Oh those lovely flam-taps at 2:39. A personal favorite rudiment.

  • Love 2:00 - 2:40 Bit of a pipe band drumming groove going on :)

  • Lovin it Bill! Good to see a legendary drummer with amazing chops and great character. You're an awesome role model for drummers everywhere.

  • @qbachman alright haha, that sounds totally reasonable to me :) whatever approach works for you.
