You George Strait fans should enjoy this. Oddly enough, both versions were from albums that were out at the same time. Mickey's version was not a single, but it sounds just like George's! This version was released on Mickey's album "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" in late 1983. Maybe they should have tried this as a single, as the album only had one charted hit.

  • Listening to this version really shows why George Strait is a superstar. Gilley does a good job of singing this, but he doesn't have the same emotional intensity as Strait.

George always manages to get the feeling of the song accross without losing his cool.

  • Mickey Gilley did a GREAT job on this song, but I still Like George Strait's version better.

  • Mickey was a country champagne singer. His music is so soothing and good feeling.

  • pour clc 2004

  • @dragknuckle I second...Gilley makes this feel like a soft 80's love song, especially with the background vocals. George, especially with the Texas sound, makes it sound much more genuine, like he was speaking to you. I would've never had known Mickey did this (probably before George), because George makes it sound like his own.

  • I never knew Mickey Gilley did a version of this. Good find.

  • I like George Strait but on this one Mickey delivers.

  • After my ex and I divorced on with life, she got married again and believe it or not I danced with her on her 2nd wedding nite to this song..

  • @dragknuckle You said just what I wanted to say. Iam a huge fan of both.

  • sabe ricky van shelton, pero, no sabe Mickey Gilley.

  • Mickey is a bar room singer straight up. Hence why his version is different than George's. Mickey is more Honky Tonk Country where as George is Traditional Country.

  • I take notice that Mickey Gilley didn't have the speaking part like George Strait's version did.
