Sir Mack Rice talks about the inspiration for and the history of his song "Mustang Sally" during the January 2007 Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. With Tommy Castro and Rick Estrin.
He's a truly gifted songwriter. I've listened to most of the stuff he's written and recorded over the years. I love the stuff he did with Booker T and the MG's at Stax in about 1967. Try to find a song he wrote with them called 'Love Sickness'. He also wrote a great song with Steve Cropper called 'Minnie Skirt Minnie' which was also covered by Wilson Pickett. Mack also wrote 'Respect Yourself' for the Staple Singers. I'm sure he made a mint off that as well.
Request: could some one write out the story he tells? I'm from holland and have great difficulty hearing it! (I know it's a 7 minute speech... Help the world! )

I kicked it with Mack Rice and Tommy Tate as a little kid when they worked at Stax Recording Studio. One of them was my sister's boyfriend.
