On the floor, crouched over the toilet, Mileys face was a pale cream color, almost matching the porcelain of the bowl she was now leaning over. Nick ran to her, his entire body spanning the ten feet of the bathroom floor before finally reaching her motionless body. By the time he pressed his hands to her back to hold her up for support, Miley was already leaned over the toilet again. With each successive try, nothing seemed to escape her body but stress. Tears strolled down her cheeks as the pain subsided into the back of her throat and the color suddenly returned to her cheeks in the worst of ways. "Miley? No! Miley! Cmon! You okay? C'mon Mi! Get up!"
Miley weakly opened her eyes, her lashes fluttered for Nick like the lenses of a stunted camera. In one swift motion, Nick hovered over Miley and gently picked her up in his arms. He brought her out of the bathroom and further into the house. All the way, he smoothed back her hair and kissed her face. Her body was weightless in his arms as Miley lankily draped her arms around his neck and snuggled into the crook of his shoulder.
When Nick reached the stairs, he took them one by one, careful not to wake Miley who was already falling asleep in his arms for the second time that night. He rocked her back and forth in attempts to wake her up. "Mi, cmon baby, you need to stay awake for me, okay?" She just nodded, her body deciding that a simple smile was all she could produce at the moment.
At the bathroom, Nick stepped inside. With Miley still clinging onto him, he walked to the shower and began to run the water. The silent whisper of the luke warm water hitting the tiles of the tub below was deafening. Soon it began to pool, at the drain and in puddles along the edge of backsplash. Nick didnt pay the drops any attention. Instead, he turned the knob to the right and just waited. Miley was standing by now, her body leaned into Nicks for support. Right now he was her wall and it took everyone in him not to crumble around her.
"Miley Ray, baby, I need you to open your eyes and look at me, okay?" Miley managed a small wink. She couldnt keep her eyes open long enough to hear what he was trying to say, but she listened nonetheless. "Mi, you need to trust me, okay?" Again, she nodded. Nick picked her up again, and pulled back the heavy cotton shower curtain. The water was even louder now, as Nick stepped into its stream, bringing Miley with him. Carefully, he set her down, her feet flinching back upward as they feigned against the freezing cold water they were now submerged in. "Miley, youve got to trust me, okay?" His words played over and over again as they coaxed her into finally believing that the water she was in was warm.
"Nick" Miley muttered through chattering teeth.
"Im right here, baby" Nick stepped into Miley. Their bodies which were still fully clothed, allowing the two lovers to touch in a way they hadnt yet managed to. "Cmon baby, you need to breathe" She shivered, using the little strength that was already coming back in her arms to push her hair back. "Breathe, Miley!" It was a command now, something Nick was aching for Miley to do. Then Mileys body stiffened for the last time as she stood on her own now, and finally, opened her eyes.
