I remember seeing this as it was broadcast and I was FLOORED at how good it was. I've had the audio for years, and it's awesome to have this... love that she was like f*k it, I was supposed to do the commerical hit thing, but f*k it, I'm going to do what feels right...and she NAILED it...

So beautiful this song, the music, the lyrics, the vocals.

I bet the loss impacted her performance in a positive way. Losing Lady Di and Mother T in the same time period was a major cryfest. Precious hearts. Thank you for pointing out the surroung events.

Winter 96 I was working a weekend midnight shift job going to school. Our radio only got 1 station. Sunday morning public service show interviewed Jewel. The show played no music. Her story was unreal. I did not know the station played her songs. She was in town and playing Wednesday night in a bookstore and Saturday in a Church. I was too tired to see her on Wednesday and worked weekends. I bought her CD and was impressed. August 96 I went to see Neil Young. She opened. Blew all of us away.

I played the album version of this song at my sister's funeral, and it will always make me think of her watching over me.
