I'm not gonna make any friends with this video, but here goes. I HATE when people blame the government and say RIP Megaupload, because the site was a hive of scum and villainy.

  • Thank you. Nobody I knew stood with my ideas, and you said basically all of my opinions and a few that I didn't have before, but agree with. Thank you for not being a mindless follower.

  • @sexmykeyboard No problem! Look through the comments. Your faith will be restored. Lots of likeminded individuals here. :)

  • @disneylandx123 See, but transformational use is like how a remix works, or a video game montage, or a fanfiction. That's perfectly fine. If I took the original game from the montage, or the unremixed song, or the original book the fanfiction is based on, and then PAYED people to upload that content illegally so that I would get hits and make money from that content, I don't think there's a fine line. I think that's morally abhorrent and illegal.

  • @EmpGrevious That's my point. There is a really really fine line between what is "fair use" and what is illegal. It's just something that is impossible to monitor all the time.

  • @TeamMuffinFTW1 But those sites aren't used by the government. Those are public service sites. It's a minor setback for the government, and a major setback for innocent citizens who want the information on the website. They're using the government's own technique on the people they're trying to protect....

  • @EmpGrevious all. I think that some personal investigation should be done before jumping into mass hysteria, hailing megaupload as some sort of bastion of internet "free speech" and "civil rights." Megaupload was none of those things and I'm glad it was taken down. It promoted and paid people for illegal activity. If other sites do that, their takedown is equally justified.

  • @ZKoftherebellion Nope. I think a "master conspiracy" is the dumbest thing I've heard about this whole thing. Do you think the FBI head honchos are sitting around cackling, laughing maniacally at how they're "stealing" your "rights?" Not at all. Also, filesonic isn't down. It has disabled the potentially illegal functions that led to Megaupload's takedown. You can still use FileSonic now, except it is significantly more legal now.

Also, I never said the government should be trusted above (cont)

  • @DuduTheDoraAmon Uploadstation is still up....

  • @disneylandx123 It most likely is, I don't doubt it. However, I credit the image source in the description, and the image has also been transformed with my own text and meaning, giving it fair use.
