You need to do pull-ups. It's the best exercise for the upper body.

Pull-ups develop all the muscles in your back and strengthen your shoulder girdle. If you can "pull your own weight" it means that you are either too fat or too weak.

Women set a goal to be able to perform 10 pull-ups in one set. It's ambitious, but the body of your dreams awaits.

Guys should be able to do about 20 pull-ups. If you can do way more than 20 pull-ups (like 30+) than it's time to get to the squat rack and develop bigger, stronger leg muscles to balance your physique. You you can't do 20 pull-ups than you need to burn body fat and get stronger.

  • haha! "if you're doing 50 pullups you need to get in the squat rack." epic. so true. most noobs have chicken legs. squats are the toughest and most hated of all exercises, separates the men from the boys.

  • @cutandpaste1 It's called squats.

I have done XC and Track for 5 years, and just entered College (now 19 yrs old). If you are in the off season for running, keep up your endurance training. If you slack on that you will see your times drop a little bit or stagnate when the season starts back up. Genes really don't have much to do with bulking up, you are not going to just randomly "get pumped" because a gene turned on. I suggest pool workouts and lifting weights after your easy runs to get the best result.

  • @TSuperChallenge is tsc the same thing as p90x and all those other things just with diffrent workouts

  • where is this park!!??

  • @TandSFreeKickerz Follow the program. You'll be fitter, faster, and stronger. CK.

  • Right now, I'm a seveteen year-old cross country and track runner. I'm pretty slim, but I think my genes will make me bigger later on in life. But I'm starting to try to build up now. I'm in the off season, but still running, so should I cut back on endurance and focus a little more on muscle build up?

  • How many pull ups can you do in a row CK? :) I could do about ten when I started the TSC. Now I do 24 :D

  • @Deathnukes911 very good but it's not the same to a 50kg boy than to a 80kg man.

  • Ehi man you have the best videos on youtube! Respect to you!

  • i got a question, what is the difference between training for strength and training for size?

  • Pull ups are great... but they won't balance out tightness from pressing - the lats don't insert in the posterior of the shoulder so they are more likely to lead to internal rotation.

Pull Ups ARE awesome, but rows are good for postural balance.
