Here is a video explaining close-up magic mats and explaining how you can go about making your own in order to save a bunch of money! Regular close-up magic mats cost anywhere from 30 dollars and up.

Feel free to post a video response of a close-up mat you made, whether you made it the same way I did or your own way. We'd all love to see different ways and ideas of going about making one!

Enjoy...

  • hi , may i know what is the type of fabric you use because i'm living in Singapore we don't have the brand 'FELT'

  • @iloveshadowmaster The type of fabiric is "felt" That is the name on the bag and the name of the fabric!

  • Thank you for the video!

But, how it ould be, if you put first some sponge under the black, so you can grab the cards more easily?

  • @LCer Excellent advice. I actually thought of that, but was in a rush to get out of the store. I did however just put an extra piece of felt underneath of it, for that very reason, which seems to work well. I am going to out today to invest in a new close-up mat, probably a 14" X 18" Trevor Duffy if they have them in stock!

  • Well the thing is.... My wood is not that big.... But i am sure yours is Massive!!! XD

  • @grichi1 Are you speaking figuratively or literally??? Hahahahaha :-)

    close up mat

  • Or email me @ beerguy1280@yahoo.com

  • Hey man I think ur pretty good I have a trick for u to try out its one of mine so if u would like to give it a shot just message me back

  • I improvised becuase I don't have a DIY store anywhere near me, so I simply put a cutting board into an old plain pillow case and sealed it off, and it works amazingly :]

  • @iloveshadowmaster felt is a type of material usually used in card tables and for a good reason...it is usually just perfect. A good example why smooth surfaces are bad for table tricks or poker is because it is much harder to pick up the cards (especially that last card)
