He did not want to sell it. Look into the history and you will know. I wish the beach house was still standing, what fun they all had. I have lovely photos of the time that Hearst Castle was a home and Marions Beach House was still a place to go.

  • I used to live near Santa Cruz, California for almost 20 years and during that time frame I went to Hearst Castle many times. Hearst Castle is quite an amazing place.

  • Just came back home from a long visit to Cambria, and the Hearst Castle. I have to say, what an amazing short-vacation it was but it was amazing. This castle is every person's dream, that anybody would kill to live in. I strongly suggest for others who haven't visited Cambria and the Castle to make arrangements, this place is amazing. P.S If you're ever in Cambria, try the Lynn's Cafe and order the Lynn's Burger, it will definitely be worth it.

  • why would you sell this place ]: I would've kept it at all cost!

  • good for you

  • Cambria is a cute little town.

The indoor Roman Pool is the most incredible pool I've ever seen. Can hardly describe how beautiful and amazing it is.

  • I went there four days ago and it's beautiful. It's all from real gold and from more than 15,000 years ago. REAL history in your hands. God Bless this castle!

  • its awesome lol its so beautiful i went there for xmas
