So you're trying to back up the contents of a Blu-Ray disc? First thing you have to look at is what's on the disc. Is it copy protected? If so you're going to have a pretty hard time of it. And you're right, the size of the disc varies. Mass replicated discs have a higher capacity than recordable discs because they have multiple layers. Blank recordable media also comes in different sizes. Tape is still the cheapest backup solution I know of but it's slow and not used so much any more.
I saw the dvd duplicator, that was pretty cool, the robotic one with a printer. I got a question. I am trying to perserve my blu-ray disk. I feel that making a blu ray disk to disk copy is best. But some are above the 25gb. Which means I have to pay more money for the disk. Or I can just put them on a hard drive. Have any recommendations or tips? I decided to ask you, because you guys are really in to this stuff not sure if it's your company or if you just work for it. Thanks for your help
That's exactly what this machine is for. It duplicates USB drives for businesses. When you go to a trade show, or training, etc. and they give you a USB drive with their presentation on it etc, this is how they get it on there in the first place. We have several models of duplicators. Some offer copy protection, some are standalone, and some connect to a PC.
When I first saw this, I thought this serves no purpose. Then i thought "it acts as a SSD, I thought that was kind of cool. But the price for USB sticks? adds to the cost,. A SSD 1TB will cost around 3k. 1TB of flash drives, 3400k + cost of the duplicator = 4,600 dollar total. Plus the size?? you got to be kidding me. Only practical thing I can see is, if you have a business and you give your employees/customer's flash drives with preloaded data. Then you can just duplicate them.
