  • Hi SlurpSilencer

Once baled, the scrap metal etc is taken to a specialist company for defragmentation (sorting) before being sent for recycling

  • Only after 30 days of storage, & notifying the registered owner via a certified letter, can the vehicle either be reclaimed, or auctioned off to another individual.

  • Hi Gordon302 - sorry for the delay in replying. The collect and destroy policy is managed by local government in the UK and they dictate whether we collect and store or destroy. Destroy is usually the same day, store is for approx 7 days. This can be extended by the local government but people usually reclaim their car pretty quickly if it's not truly abandoned!

  • Crushmycar, what you mean was that a car that has reach the end of its life span have to be scrapped? What is the life span of each car? Do you accept cars when the cars' owner send them to scrap? Will you keep a car that has reached the end of its life and still in a good condition to car amateurs?

  • Hi H0nG0hK

Yes, its a legal requirement for cars to be depolluted and dismantled according to strict guidelines. Average lifespan is around 5 years, but that's cos so many people have their cars written off by insurance companies. We do take cars from the public, in most cases, we pay money for them and, yes, if a car is still roadworthy, we advise the customer before we resell to someone else as we have to issue a Certificate of Destruction when we scrap a car

  • Hey, after the the car body has been crushed into a cube by the bailer, where do they usually go ?

  • Hello,

I was wondering if you could please elaborate on your countries "Collect & destroy" policy? I'm in the USA, & the rules here are quite different. For example: An abandoned vehicle will have an orange warning label put on it usually for 3 to 7 days. After that, it must be removed to a towing & storage facility. When the owner calls in to claim it, either the police or the local city information line will tell them which facility has their vehicle. (Continued below.)

  • Oh I see, then what's in my mind is that I think there are less or no exotics in your country due to this rule. Many exotics will get scrapped in 5 years, it's a waste.

  • Hi H0nG0hK

no, we only crush cars that have reached the end of life, either by accident damage or just plain old age!

We also have a Salvaged vehicle centre where you can buy repairable 'write offs'

  • Crushmycar, do you scrap cars that are still in good condition? Example, such as, Honda Accord, Toyota Altis, Nissan Sentra and all those road cars? It will be a waste if you do...:(
