Don't Settle...Get a Man on Your Level (Part 2)

People may often say that it is your responsibility to lower your standards and "date down" or "marry down." However, if you strove to make something of yourself, it's only fair that you ask as much of a lifelong mate as you've asked of yourself.

In addition to love, moral values, family values, beliefs, etc., there is no shame in also considering whether a potential life partner is as education-oriented and goal-oriented and about as successful as you are. If education and the process of setting, striving for and achieving goals are things you admire about yourself and desire to pass down to your children, there's no shame if you'd prefer for the man you choose to father them to set that example.

Be cautious of those who put effort into tearing down your standards rather than rising to meet them. Those who call you "gold-digger" for wanting a partner who pulls his own weight in the relationship are probably the gold-diggers themselves, looking for YOU to be their meal ticket.

WOW. Amazing video. All of these men are very successful. I am from Europe originally and must say most of the successful black women there tend to be with white men. This is seen alot in London, Netherlands, France and Germany.

i love this, BW are deserving of love and respect; as are all women...And even if love doesn't come in the form or person that you thought it would, one owes it to themselves to be with someone will treat them with respect, marry them, and who knows how to be a family man and a part of the family...If Black man don't want a wholesome and traditional Black woman, other men are certainly willing...Time to look beyond skin and see the heart of the person...LeS...

I think the main issue with portraying black women as being "mad and sassy" when black men date outside their race is that: Black men don't deny it! While I'm sure equivalent parts of both black women & men date out of their race, the fact remains that black men like for the world to know - "Hello World! I'm dating a White Woman!" whereas black women are still somewhat subdued & perhaps carry a stigma associated with interracial dating, as if we are giving in to the 'man'.

Thank you for this! I'm so sick and tired of hearing about "Black Women Being Angry About Their Men Being Taken". If only there were more editorials about black women dating outside their race, then I think we'd have an even discussion going on about interracial dating/marriage.
