@sufenta67 Sarah actually did get this letter. After Sullivan was killed in action, the letter was found un-mailed amid his personal effects. It was hand delivered to Sarah by then Rhode Island Governor William Sprague. In fact Sarah never remarried and lived to a ripe old age, in her later years she took up residence with their son William. She died in 1917 and was buried beside her husband at Swan Point Cemetery, in Providence Rhode Island.

Ma è stato tradotto anche in italiano questo film?

I cried the first time I read this letter; it was so beautiful and heart-breaking at the same time. I wish I could could find a love like that, I do.

Sarah never got this letter as it was not found until many years later after her death. What a tragedy.
I'd love to know whether he really wrote it. It's so beautiful

I agree... it's pretty amazing. From what our research could find when looking up the information, he did write the letter. It was a long time ago so I guess it's anyone's guess as to how authentic it is.... either way it really gets you thinking.
Thanks for your comments.

I found 8 readings of this letter on YouTube. This is the only one that does NOT destroy itself by a missread word on the last line. (thee vs "me")
A great reading of an unforgetable letter.
