  • How long have you been playing? Your playing is fantastic! I have just begun playing on my dulcimer, do you have any tips for a self teaching beginner???

  • @SRSealed - Thanks for the kind words! When I made this recording, I think that I had been playing about 3 years or so. There are some good instructional videos via Expert Village regarding the hammered dulcimer; that's how I got started. I would also visit EverythingDulcimer(dot)com to get help. They have a large list of dulcimer instructors that may be close to your area. Best of luck to you! :)

  • how much harder is it to learn how to play the hammered dulcimer than the regular one?

  • @missiramey The hammered dulcimer is a different animal than the mountain dulcimer. I think that it's more difficult to learn, but it's not as hard as most people think. Once you de-code it, the layout makes a lot of sense. Even though it may be a little more difficult to learn, it's worth it IMO. If you have other questions, feel free to e-mail me at MartinMooreMusic@gmail.com. Thanks!

  • Good job, Martin! We should get together and do some 2 HD Gospel arrangements. Keep on hammerin'!

  • You name the time and the place and I'll be there buddy! :) Hey, I'll be playing in Mt. Airy soon. I'll contact you via ED. Talk with you soon!

  • Hello Martinn

I love the sound of your dulcimer. It looks as if you have build the imstrument yourself. Am I right? If so! I would love to know where you did get the building instructions from.

It's very hard to get info about "how to build"

By the way, I forgot to say "you play very well" I am strugling on my Uke and Clarinet for years now. Never mind.

Cheers peter dot vanderstam at gmail
