PS3's Version of Red Ring of Death (The Yellow Line of DOOM)

This is the yellow line of doom. It is similar to the 360's Red Ring of Death but it doesn't kill your ps3!
All you have to do is turn your ps3 off then back on again really quick using the main power switch at the back!

The same applies to the 3 Red Lights on Xbox 360. Another reason that can cause 3 Red Lights is a power surge. In this case the console will not turn on until you unplug the power cord from the outlet and reconnect it back after a few seconds.

The yellow light CAN kill your PS3.
The CPU (Cell) and the GPU (RSX) of your console may get unattached from the motherboard (because the solder balls are melted due to heat). If this happens, you will get a permanent Yellow Light of Death.
This is the same reason that cause 3 Red Lights, E73 and E74 errors on Xbox 360.
Sometimes, however, the error can be caused by the HDD, the power supply (internal in PS3) or just a random malfunction. In the last case you can just restart the PS3.

I had the first batch of 360's to hit the market & mine got RRoD 4 times within 9 months. I sold it after I got it back to GameStop. Used that money to buy a car & got a new generation 360.

Does the power flip trick work no matter what? I.E. yellow lines are not the result of physical failure that must be fixed through invasive means as in xbox?

Had a 360 since it came out... Still works great.. Mabye if plp dont treat things like this like sht... It wont happen
