  • YEAH! Gun Slingers! They should put Yosemite Sam on the tails.

  • @BikerYamahaR1 It was, problem is that their maintenance costs were so much higher. It cost more money to keep them flying than the active aircraft today.

  • @BikerYamahaR1 yea highway to the dangerzone doesnt really fly with the f-18. dont mind the pun

  • @BikerYamahaR1 I've always wondered that. Since the Tomcat was Grumman and the Rhinos are Boeing, if this was indeed a better jet. I mean I thought the Navy only recently got those F-14D Super Tomcats. Methinks the F-18E/Fs were just a cheaper alternative...

  • it was better at IT'S role(air superiority)than the Super Hornet, but it is no where near as versatile...Still they should have gone ahead with the "super-tomcat 21" program, so every carrier could have a squadron of advanced air superiority fighters...for top cover missions, the role that the F-14 SHINED...BTW I did 'thumbs-up' your comment :)

  • the f14 was much better ...
